Aftercare

How to properly take care of your new tattoo!

Maintaining your adhesive bandage:

Leave the bandage on for at least 24 hours but no longer than 5 days. (1-3 days for smaller-scale tattoos, up to 5 days for larger pieces.)

It is normal for you to develop an "ink sack" or for the tattoo to start weeping underneath the bandage. The fluid consists of blood, ink and plasma which are all part of the healing process with which bandage assists with.

After 24 hours - 5 days of leaving the bandage on, it is recommended to slowly peel the bandage off underneath warm/room-temperature running water.

There is no need to rebandage or cover your tattoo after peeling off the bandage after your appointment.

Keeping your tattoo clean:

Avoid using towels, sponges, or washcloths to wash your tattoos.

Use only non-scented, anti-bacterial soap or proper aftercare solutions.

Lather the soap with clean hands and apply to your tattoo in soft circular motions until ointment, lotion, or plasma is removed.

Pat the area dry with a clean towel or paper towel and allow the tattoo to air dry for 10 minutes. DO NOT SCRUB.

Keep in mind that your tattoo is a fresh wound and is prone to contact with dirt and bacteria which can cause infections.

Make sure to sleep on clean sheets and to avoid touching your new tattoo to dirty surfaces.

Letting your tattoo heal:

Once the tattoo is dry, apply a small amount of ointment (ie: Aquaphor or Hustle Butter) or non-scented white lotion (ie: Lubriderm or Aveeno) to your tattoo. Pat off any excess with a clean paper towel or towel.

**Applying too much ointment or lotion may cause your tattoo to not heal properly as well as not applying enough will not keep your tattoo moisturized. Apply just enough so your tattoo can breathe.

Repeat 2-3 times a day for 5-7 days or until the tattoo is healed.

It is normal for your tattoo to feel itchy and dry. DO NOT peel or scratch at your tattoo.

Wearing loose and breathable clothing around your tattoo is also recommended. â€‹â€‹
